So I have talked a lot about the HPSK swap. Now it is time for the good stuff.

Not a whole lot of knitting went on this week, but there is some yarn pron.

So I knitted the 3rd square for scarf circle 1. I used a raised eyelet stitch that I found in my favourite knitting magazine called Simply Knitting. The pattern was really simple, but very, very pretty.

I also knit some more on the Drop Stitch Vest. I am now up to 18 inches, so only 6 more to go and I will be all finished! Sqquuueeeeeeee.

The yarn pron is gorgeous with gorgeous colours. I ordered off two ebay sellers that are based in the UK. I also ordered from Dharmafey who is an Etsy seller.

I ordered some Ravenclaw yarn off Dharmafey. It is really pretty with deep blue and silver colours. The yarn is self striping so that when it is knitted up it gives a prison bars effect. This is based on the Prisoner of Azkabhan film.

I also bought some Rowenna yarn from the Natural Dye Studio on Ebay. The yarn is a little thicker than what I would of thought but it is still really pretty colours. One of the two harry potter yarns will be sent as part of the HPSKS gift.

The other yarn I bought was from an ebay seller called katy11knitting. The yarns I got off here are gorgeous. The colours are really vibrant. I have a ball of Regia knitting yarn, I think it is self striping in Canyon. This wool even has a 10 year guarantee against felting or piling. The other yarn is Sockina, in a lilacs and purples colourway.

I also have some other news in that I have found a knitting group that is local. I haven’t been yet. I will go next Tuesday though and post about my experiences.

That is all for now….trying to catch up on the knitting for next week….

So below you should see the first Harry Potter Sock Kit Swap Challenge that I am setting the students I watch under my beady eye – you know who you are!

By my calculations there are 5 weeks before the deadline date of the 21st June, therefore I plan to set 5 challenges, inc this one. I will set them at 1 per week, with the instructions included in the post. The prizes are as follows:

Week 1(this week): Set of 2 Harry Potter Coins and Harry Potter Sweets
Week 2: Set of 2 Harry Potter Coins and Harry Potter Sweets
Week 3: Harry Potter tea caddy, diffuser and diffuser tray
Week 4: Harry Potter address book and pen
Week 5: Copy of Charmed Knits

I will try to set the challenges on a Sunday.

Good Luck

This post is for the Harry Potter Sock Kit Swap. All the students who are under my prefectly eye, please read the instructions below and mail me the answer. First person to answer wins a prize. As soon as the prize is won I will publish the winner on my blog.

So here is what I would like you to do…..

Hidden in the puzzle below are words that relate to the Harry Potter books/films. You have to find all the hidden words in order to reveal the letters that are left. Some of the letters that are left can be rearranged to reveal something that Harry, Ron and Hermione use.

So hubby went and spent a lot of money on an ipod that he doesn’t need, then wanted to spend more money on a cover that he also doesn’t need. So I found this knitting pattern and said that I would make him one. So two evenings later I presented him with his very own cricket ipod cover. This represents a lot of new skills for me, although I did cheat a little đŸ˜‰

I had never done cables before this project. If ound them relatively easy, although working on larger needles may help a little. Also the collar was supposed to be done on dpns. I tried it and didn’t like the way it looked so I frogged it back and crochet 2 rows of single crochet instead. I am happy with this now.
Other knitting news is I have completed 16 in of the drop stitch vest. Only 8 more to go and it will all be finished.
I am beginning to think that I will drown in all the projects that I want to complete. I have the wristlings, and more socks that I want to complete that I know what to do with. I also have decided to give every person I would normally give Christmas gifts to at least one hand crafted gift. This sounds fine in theory, but in practice that is around 15 gifts that I have to complete in a very short space of time. I was thinking of cutting down the Christmas list this year. Mostly due to people who I give the gifts to being non-thankful. I don’t see why I should use time and money that I don’t have to buy/make gifts for ungrateful people. /rant
I was reading the L&V message boards today and one of the members said ‘is it true that you are taking part in Scarf Circle III?’ *blinkblinkblink* I sent a mail accross weeks ago to say if you need any others I would be happy to join. And that was the last I heard until now. So I guess I am joined up for round 2 (or 3, whatever). I don’t mind the first one is so much fun – I just have to watch that I don’t get all the pieces mixed up.
I got a surprise email today from Ravelry.com. The site is a fantastic invention that allows you to store details of your stash, needles, patterns, advance projects – you name it this site does it for you! I have been playing there all afternoon instead of doing housework that I said I would.
Now I s’pose I better go get it done…..
